For Los Angeles area Honda enthusiasts, life just got a little brighter. American Honda has announced a great opportunity to reconnect via the recently relocated American Honda Collection Hall and regularly scheduled Cars, Bikes & Coffee events hosted at American Honda HQ in Torrance, CA. The inaugural event will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 9:00am to noon at 1919 Torrance Blvd. in Torrance.
Formerly housed in its own private facility a few minutes away from HQ, the roots and history of American Honda were rather exclusively tucked away. While tours were available on request, arrangements had to be made in advance and many referred to it as the “secret Honda museum.” But now everyone can easily enjoy the history, achievements, landmarks, and gear-head joy that exemplify the Honda and Acura brands.
During the pandemic, Honda was able to re-imagine the possibilities of using their space and consequently converted what were once conference rooms and lesser used spaces to a modern display rivaling some of the best automotive and motorcycle museums in metropolitan Los Angeles. Laid out in a semi-circle with motorcycles occupying the inner arc and the four wheeled vehicles in the outer arc, the visitor is immersed in a world of record-holding and iconic machinery. Lighting was carefully chosen to highlight the displays and create the best possible experience.
Your journey begins in the lobby of American Honda where visitors can grab a coffee at The Power of Dreams Café, check out the latest prototypes or early productions models on display, view the digital display, purchase Honda and Acura labeled accessories in the Honda store, or peruse the current featured spotlight exhibit. As you enter the exhibit visitors are introduced to the history of Honda via a video presentation in "the Pico Room," a viewing room reminiscent of the original American Honda location on Pico Blvd. It's a great opportunity to form context for the significance of the collection.
For instance, the Honda 50/Super Cub is on display which is the overall bestselling vehicle globally with over 100 million sold to date. Also on exhibit is a 1970 Honda N600 Coupe which was the first Honda automobile sold in the US. Several "firsts" for both Honda and Acura are featured. While certain vehicles are expected to be on display continuously, others will be rotated in for an ever-changing exhibit to interest all who visit.
The schedule for upcoming public Cars, Bikes, & Coffee events are as follows:
Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
