McLaren North America confirms high level of interest for the exclusive 765LT, and future customers have a lot to look forward to.
The McLaren 765LT is just the fourth iteration of the ‘Longtail’ saga and it raises the bar significantly. Rooted in McLaren’s F1 ‘Longtail’ racecars from the late 1990’s, the LT gifted the driver unprecedented performance, track-focused dynamics and engagement. The 2015 McLaren 675LT resurrected the Longtail name, followed by the recent 600LT and now the 765LT.
With only 765 units being built, the 765LT mixes exclusivity with extraordinary performance, making it the fastest McLaren LT yet. The 765LT improves on the 720S in many ways, most notably increasing horsepower by 45 and adding 22 lb.-ft. of torque. Paired with a weight loss of 176 lbs., the improved power-to-weight ratio is nothing to sneeze at. The 765LT also benefits from a track-tuned suspension and 15% quicker in-gear acceleration.
The McLaren 765LT comes with a recommended retail price of $358,000 (US) and includes roughly $50,000 of comparable cost options on the 720S coupe. So even though that price is a punch in the gut at first, it actually turns out to be a slight bargain. “Slight”.
McLaren’s 4.0L twin-turbo V8 still resides under the carbon fiber shell, but now puts out 755 hp and 590 ft.-lbs. of torque. If that doesn’t make your eyes pop, maybe these standard features will:
