The Bentley Mulsanne Legacy Comes to an End with the Limited 6.75 Edition

With Bentley discontinuing the storied Mulsanne in spring of 2020, it’s only fitting that the luxury limousine goes out with regality.
With the Bentley Flying Spur set to overtake the Mulsanne for flagship status in the spring, the British manufacturer has decided to release a proper send-off. 30 examples are set to be produced sporting the title of 6.75 Edition by Mulliner. The 6.75 portion honors the 60th continuous production year of Bentley’s famous 6 ¾ liter V8, first used in the 1959 Bentley S2.
The Mulsanne made its debut in 1980, setting the benchmark for luxury four-door saloons. The luxury limousine has since evolved into a massive pavement prowler without compromise. But like many other manufacturers, Bentley has said ‘out with the old, in with the new’.
Before your eyes well up for the Mulsanne, remember the model replacing it – The Flying Spur (above)– is more than up to the challenge. The Flying Spur is more attractive, more modern, and ushers in the next era of cool. Bentley has admirably stated that all staff and personnel involved with the Mulsanne will be incorporated elsewhere within the company.
The Mulsanne 6.75 Edition doesn’t get any performance upgrades, only aesthetic. The car has been designed and laid out by revered coachbuilder Mulliner, and sports some truly unique details. The interior ventilation control knobs will look like miniature oil caps instead of the traditional ‘organ stop’ design. A unique 6.75 motif has been stitched into the seats, and chrome variants of the badge reside in the engine bay and the exterior.
A very cool 6.75 Edition welcome light shines on the ground when the doors are opened, and the Bentley clock in the dashboard reveals a cutaway of engine drawings. Under the hood, the engine number plaque has been signed by Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Adrian Hallmark.
