Toyota Speedway and Barrett-Jackson Cross-Promote June 25-27 Orange County Auction and July 3rd K&N Race By Doug Stokes Two very different forms of automotive excitement have linked up to cross-promote each other’s patented brand of high-test on-site adrenalin. “Just like great the NASCAR short-track racing that we see each week at the Speedway, the action at a Barrett-Jackson auction is something that really needs to be experienced live and in person,” said Toyota Speedway GM Bob DeFazio. The good news for Southern California automobile fans is that they can now do both. The fabled Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction has announced that it will present its inaugural California Collector Car event at the Orange County Fair Grounds June 25-27. “We’re very pleased to be working with the Barrett-Jackson people,” said De Fazio. “They’re a class act all the way and they really enjoy the kind of fast action NASCAR racing that we feature at the Speedway. In fact, everyone attending the auction will be invited to come out to the Speedway the next weekend to get into the Spirit of ‘76 by taking in a great night of NASCAR pro racing and our annual fireworks spectacular.” “We’ll be at the auction, with our Toyota Street Team (see below), letting the folks know about the show at the Speedway … We’ve already begun telling our fans about the auction and how much we think that they’ll enjoy getting in on that kind of automotive action,” said DeFazio. “It gets wild in its own way and, when two people are battling over a cool car, it’s almost like to drivers squabbling over first place on the Speedway … As our “in the stands” fans know, it’s OK to watch on TV, but when you’re there onsite live, there’s just really nothing like it!” The on-track action for July 3rd will feature round 5 of the 14-round 2010 K&N Pro Series West. Two hundred laps of the Toyota half-mile will challenge these top touring pros to race hard and stay out of trouble at the same time, a balancing trick for 20 laps … try doing it for 100 miles … how long can you hold your breath? In addition to California, this true touring series comes by the “West” in its name by making stops in Arizona, Iowa, Oregon, Montana, and Utah! These are the driver names that are on everyone’s “Who’s next?” list for the upper levels of NASCAR racing. Fans who enjoy being able to tell friends, “I saw him (or her) when they were just starting to make the big move,” are invited to be at the Speedway to see the next brash, bright, bold, (and young) crop of potential ‘Cup drivers. Also on the night’s bill, the fast and highly-competitive Auto Club Late Models that are having on of their most competitive racing seasons of their 11-year existence at Toyota Speedway. And then there’s the Speedway Spectacular fireworks show that, over the past 12 years has become the most popular sparkling sky-show in the Los Angeles area. “We have fans coming to the Speedway from all over the state and beyond, who enjoy the racing of course, but who are really here for our 4th of July fireworks show, and this time we’ll be having a blast on Saturday night the 3rd, “ said DeFazio.
