It’s LA Auto Show season. While the golden era of the traditional auto show may be behind us (see LACar’s The Golden Era of the Auto Shows), the Los Angeles show remains a monumental fixture in the automotive world—arguably second only to the Chicago Auto Show in size for North America.
Out in the west, the LA Auto Show is one of four shows that attract wide attention from the motor press—the others being the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance for the rich and famous, the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) for automotive technology, and the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show for the aftermarket. But the LA show is the only one out west that’s recognized by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OCIA) as a traditional auto show with a global presence for the broad public.
