Introducing what Lamborghini calls ‘A Rewind To Rear-Wheel Drive’, the Huracán EVO RWD is truly a callback to the roots of the Italian manufacturer.

If you’re someone who enjoys thrashing supercars around tracks sideways, the Huracán EVO RWD is the car for you. With an emphasis on the drifting capabilities of rear-wheel drive, the EVO RWD has emerged, promising drivers a unique driving experience. If that sounds intriguing, you might be in luck. The EVO RWD is the cheapest of the three Huracán trim levels.

While typically less weight means more dollars, the Huracán EVO RWD achieves the opposite. By dropping the front differential and axles, the EVO RWD sheds 72 pounds from the all-wheel-drive Huracán EVO.

The Huracán EVO RWD uses the tested 5.2L naturally aspirated V10, pushing out 610 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. The RWD version achieves 0-62 mph in 3.3 seconds, which is noticeably slower than the 2.9 seconds posted by the AWD model. However, top speed stays the same, reaching 202 mph. The engine ponies up through the gears thanks to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Lamborghini has added something new called Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) that has been specifically calibrated to suit the EVO RWD. There are three different drive modes that utilize the P-TCS, with varying amounts of traction control applied to the rear wheels depending on what the driver prefers.

Strada: Gets you used to the car. Minimizes wheel slippage with a focus on stability and safety.

Sport: Basically drift mode. The P-TCS frees up wheel slippage, allowing the driver to slip and slide to their heart’s content. The P-TCS recognizes when oversteer increases rapidly and limits torque to the rear wheels, allowing the driver much more control.

Corsa: Race mode. The P-TCS is calibrated to regulate the slippage of the rear wheels to achieve optimal traction when exiting corners. Lamborghini states that the P-TCS improves smoothness of intervention by 30% compared to the previous Huracán RWD model; improves corner-exit traction by 20%, and enhances oversteer by 30%

On the exterior, a new rear diffuser has been added to the Huracán EVO RWD to differ from the AWD model. Up front, a new splitter and vertical fins in the intake add a bit of fresh flair. Inside, an HMI 8.4” touchscreen resides in the center console allowing a wide range of control from the cockpit. Incredible customization options are available thanks to Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program and allow you to combine nearly any color combination you desire.

“The Huracán EVO rear-wheel drive puts the car in the driver’s hands; the driving experience is delivered by the hardware,” says Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “This car reminds the driver of Lamborghini’s pure engineering origins: the driver is at the center of the Huracán EVO RWD’s performance, with unfiltered feedback and an emotive and more engaging driving experience controlled by the pilot.”

Deliveries for the Huracán EVO RWD begin in spring 2020 and start at $208,571 excluding the GST. That’s $52,000 less than the AWD version. Maybe you could put that extra money towards replacement tires, because the EVO RWD will happily go sideways for you.
